Tiny Athletes is a fun, low-key introduction to the foundational skills children will use in many different sports. Rather than focusing on one particular sport, children will explore:

• Hand-eye and foot-eye coordination

• Balance and body control

• Gross motor skills

• Agility and coordination

• Throwing, catching, rolling and kicking

• Running, jumping and changing direction

• Spatial awareness and motor planning

• Listening and following simple directions

• Taking turns and participating in a group

• Confidence, teamwork and sportsmanship

Activities will be playful, age-appropriate and pressure-free. The goal is not to formally teach or perfect specific skills, but to help children become comfortable with movement and participating in a group.

Parent or Caregiver Participation

Active parent or caregiver participation should be expected throughout the session. At this age, watching, exploring or briefly trying an activity is completely appropriate! The amount of involvement needed will depend on your child’s age, comfort level and ability to listen and follow directions. Families should expect that most children under age 4 will need significant hands-on support from their caregiver to participate safely and successfully.

The play space will also remain available during Tiny Athletes. Children who are not ready to participate directly may play nearby while watching, listening and becoming familiar with the activities. This indirect exposure can be a valuable first step toward joining the group when they feel ready.

No previous sports experience is needed. Every child is welcome to participate at their own comfort level!
